Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SubTrends (the "Service"), operated by SubTrends ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Not affiliated with Reddit

SubTrends is an independent analytics tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to Reddit, Inc. "Reddit", "subreddit", and related marks are the property of their respective owners and are used here descriptively only.

2. What the Service does

SubTrends analyzes publicly available Reddit posts to produce statistics about Reddit communities, including posting activity, engagement metrics, timing patterns, and rankings. We display aggregate statistics, community names, post titles, and links back to Reddit. We do not host, mirror, or reproduce Reddit content beyond the metadata described.

3. Accuracy and no warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Statistics are derived from public data sources and may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate.
  • Data coverage varies by community and by time period. Some months or communities may be missing entirely.
  • Rankings, percentages, averages, and derived metrics are estimates based on available data, not authoritative figures.
  • Data is not real time. Figures reflect the most recent processed period, which may lag current activity.
  • We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error free, or continuously available.

You should not rely on the Service as the sole basis for any business, financial, marketing, or other decision. Any reliance you place on the information is strictly at your own risk.

4. Accounts

You may use most of the Service without an account. An account is required for bookmarks, data export, and paid features.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must provide accurate information and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Subscriptions and billing

Free tier. The free tier is available without payment and, for most features, without an account.

Pro subscription. Pro is offered on a monthly or annual basis at the prices listed on the pricing page. Prices are in USD and exclusive of any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms. We do not store your full payment card details.

Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You authorize us to charge your payment method on each renewal.

Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain Pro access until that period ends, after which your account reverts to the free tier.

Refunds. Subscription fees are non refundable except where required by law. Because you may cancel at any time and retain access through the paid period, we do not provide partial refunds for unused time.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices. We will give at least 30 days notice before a price change affects your existing subscription, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may retry and may suspend Pro access until payment succeeds. Extended non payment may result in cancellation.

6. Adult content and age requirement

Some Reddit communities are marked as NSFW (not safe for work) by Reddit. SubTrends displays statistics and text metadata for these communities, including community names, post titles, and keywords, which may be explicit in nature. We do not display images or video, and we do not link to any site other than Reddit.

You must be at least 18 years old to access NSFW sections of the Service. By proceeding past the age confirmation prompt, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that viewing such content is lawful in your jurisdiction.

NSFW content is hidden by default. You may enable or disable it at any time in preferences.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, harvest, or bulk download content from the Service by automated means.
  • Resell, redistribute, sublicense, or commercially exploit data obtained from the Service.
  • Circumvent, disable, or attempt to bypass any access restriction, paywall, rate limit, or security measure.
  • Use the Service to violate any law, or to harass, stalk, or harm any person or community.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other accounts, or our infrastructure.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by placing undue load on our systems.
  • Use the Service to identify, profile, or target individual Reddit users.

We may suspend or terminate access for any violation, without notice.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, layout, visual identity, and the presentation and organization of statistics, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Underlying Reddit content, including post titles and community names, remains the property of its respective owners. We claim no ownership over it.

Subject to these Terms, you may use statistics from the Service for your own internal purposes, including research and reporting. You may not redistribute the data in bulk or present it as your own product.

9. Content removal

If you are a moderator of a community, or otherwise believe content displayed on SubTrends should be removed, contact us at hello@subtrends.io with the specific community or page and the reason for the request. We review removal requests and act on them at our discretion.

We proactively exclude communities associated with illegal content. If you believe such content appears on the Service, please report it immediately at hello@subtrends.io.

10. Third party services

The Service relies on third party providers, including Supabase (authentication and data storage) and Stripe (payment processing). Their availability and performance are outside our control. Links to Reddit and other external sites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, business opportunities, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
  • Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) 50 USD.
  • These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory, whether contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SubTrends and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

13. Service changes and availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We may add, remove, or change features, including features currently available on the free tier.

The Service depends on the continued availability of public Reddit data. If that data becomes unavailable or its use becomes restricted, we may be required to modify or discontinue the Service. If we discontinue paid features, we will provide a pro rata refund for any prepaid period not yet delivered.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your bookmarks and saved preferences.

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violation of these Terms, suspected fraud, or where required by law.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including accuracy disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law, will survive.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice through the Service or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United States.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
